How do you manage your Internet passwords? I am a current Facebook user, and I have used the Facebook connect option to bypass a lengthy sign-up process with a new website that I would like to become a part of. My main concern of connecting via Facebook is the fact that I am only using one username/password to access numerous different sites. This is a security issue that I have pushed aside until reading this post. I never imagined someone wanting to steal my username/password and take over my account on not only Facebook, but also the other websites I subscribed to as well. I will take this message as a lesson to take heavier precautionary measures before connecting via Facebook again. What do you think? How do you manage your Internet passwords?

Students have learned from each other ways in which they do not have to own up to their mistakes. Truthfully, I experienced a period last semester in which I misread some directions pertaining to a midterm, wherein I ended up turning in the midterm three hours late. According to this article, a typical student would have attempted to submit some harmless lie to excuse themselves from taking the blame for misinterpreting the instructions. Personally, I am not the type to attempt to convince the professor that some outside event caused me to delay the submission of my paper. Instead, I owned up to my mistake in an email, apologized, emphasized that I am not the type of student to make this a habit, and promised that it would not happen again. I also acknowledged that I understood the consequences, in which the professor did not enforce due to my truthfulness, unexpectedly. Students and their ethics should be called into question more often in order to help them learn to take the blame for what they do. In addition to have a clear conscience, it is also important to establish this mentality for those people who do actually have their grandmother pass away during the semester. If so many professors are jaded to the "grandmother" lie, it won't be fair to students to be perceived as liars if their grandmothers have in fact passed away. I believe California Lutheran University School is doing good in reinforcing the importance of critical thinking which is shown through the reading assignments in courses assigned by instructors. I have seen a better comprehenshion level of what my classes entail through the readings that challenge me to think about the overall message that the author is attempting to imply for the reader's benefit. Reading sure increases the way we think and our perception about certain subjects. I was not aware that there are institutions that do not place an importance in reading assignments when reading is highly beneficial because it covers what an instructor can not in a class period. To my understanding it is unrealistic to expect an instructor to cover a whole chapter in full detail. Therefore, as college students it is our job to take responsibility in our educational journey and enhance our communication skills through reading assignments and hands on experience. Using numbers as characters for passwords definitely decreases the possibility of someone guessing your password and accessing accounts that have private information.
